The 2024 Cabernet Franc from our estate Valois Vineyard is our first single-vineyard cabernet franc in our growing single-vineyard portfolio. Valois Vineyard overlooks the hamlet of Valois, just north of Hector. It was planted between 2014 and 2015 on 10.6 acres of land consisting of 50% Howard gravelly loam, 40% Valois gravelly silt loam, and 10% Lansing gravelly silt loam. The vineyard is home to cabernet franc, chardonnay, lemberger, pinot meunier, pinot noir, and pinot gris, west-facing on a slope varying between 3 and 15%.

Single Vineyard Series

The characteristics and expression of a grape variety are shaped by a constellation of influences—from climate and vineyard practices to winemaking techniques, aging duration, and the choice of vessel. Every decision, every touch, draws out a unique contextual nuance. Our approach to winemaking embraces a range of strategies designed to craft wines that are vibrant, articulate, and deeply reflective of the remarkable region in which they’re grown. Among these strategies, single-vineyard bottlings stand out as a powerful way to showcase how soil composition, slope, aspect, and pied de cuve native yeast cultures shape a wine’s flavor profile. Since 2010, we’ve been bottling single-vine yard wines to celebrate these site-specific distinctions. Beginning in 2024, we’ve expanded our single-vineyard sourcing and refreshed our packaging to better highlight the individuality of these expressive wines.
